Careers & Internships

Whenever a job vacancy arises at Granta Books we will post details on this page.  In additon, we usually advertise in the Bookseller and occasionally in the Guardian.  Unfortunately, due to the high number of enquiries we receive, we cannot respond to speculative applications.

Applications are now open for the February–April 2020 Granta Books three-month full-time paid internship.

We are seeking motivated, curious individuals with a passion for literature and an interest in pursuing a career in literary publishing. Interns are managed by the editorial director and will be closely involved with the editorial and publicity teams, also providing some administrative support. They will have an opportunity to shadow every department, as well as meet booksellers, agents and other industry figures. Applicants should be:

  • Self-motivated
  • Passionate readers
  • Organised and able to pay attention to detail

Applications are welcome from candidates of all backgrounds and no previous experience of publishing is required. Interns will be paid the National Living Wage (£8.21 per hour). If you’re interested in applying, please send a cover letter, your CV and an A4 page of no more than a thousand words with answers to these three questions:

1) What recently published book (fiction or non-fiction) have you loved and why?

2) How well (or poorly) do you think it was published?

3) Why would you like to work for Granta Books?

Applications should be sent by 13 December to internships [at] Interviews will take place in the new year.
